Data and Logs

CFAT/KML stores information about users, activities in addition to content. The information is categorized as follows: personal information, browsing statistics, organization structure, browser cookies, private and published content.

Some of this data is collected automatically by our web-server, some is collected in our tools and other information is supplied by our users. In compliance with privacy policy we may use this information for research purposes or to improve the function of our tools ie provide recomendations. We will not share identifying information on users unless compelled to by law or with the permission of that user.

A brief description of each type follows:

personal information - relates to the owner of the account and may include name, address, email and other contact information. This information is listed and with minor acceptions editable by the account owner. To facilitate community it is our plan to allow people to publish some of this information. Unpublished personal information will not be intentionally revealed without the permission of the owner.

browsing statistics - our web servers keep pretty detailed logs of visitors, in addition to this we are able to associate browsing habits with our logged in users. We use this information to determine the popularity of published content and to provide useful recomendations to users.

organizational structure - this information relates both to the way the user constructs data (idea lists, galleries, etc) and the way published information is collected within an account.

browser cookies - CFAT/KML uses a standard browser-retained file known as a cookie to keep track of your login. No information is passed or stored in the "session ID."

private content - snapshots, stitch groups, galleries, idea lists etcetera that you have not marked with "publish." Depending on the individual setting (private or not) these may be shareable or linkable but will not be exposed to search engines or listed by CFAT/KML.

published content - snapshots, stitch groups, galleries, idea lists etcetera that have been marked as "publish" will be made available to community members, opened to search engines and may be highlited on our website(s). We encourage you to consider the license of published material and consider sharing it with a creative commons license. Please note that material that is shared this way may find its way on to other sites (through mirrors) that may extend beyond the control of CFAT/KML.
